i had exactly those artefacts with a newly purchased set of hdrs.. and although this tutorial is for lightwave, it pretty much helped me solve the problem.

Thanks guys for your help. For now I am doing the render with a cyclo setup later on I will test the Hdri again and post an image. So far I have this with the cyclo.
