Ooo some good info!!

Happy for the Modoers! The plugin material shading looked great, the network rendering stuff looks fantastic and the ability to script and process MXIs will be very useful if it can do stuff like apply simulens settings to a sequence of renders for animation.

Yay! :D

Do you know how Maxwell Render is updating during render? Every next SL takes about twice as long as the previous one! So, if there are really 5 more steps remaining we should wait... 48 weeks...

I think illustrating new features the right way is not so easy even if these features are already working.
To do it in an exiting manner like the v1.7 versus v2.0 illustration takes creativity and time.
Finally its a major release and packing together all new features with manual, examples and all the updated plug-ins needs quiet some work.
My guess is that a key moment is Siggraph 2009 (3-7 August)... that's not so many SLs away...

Speaking of the Maya texturing page, could anyone from NL explain that one some more? Not looking for anything that wasn't there, it's just that after reading that a couple times and looking at the images, I'm still not sure what exactly I'm looking at.

If I'm reading this properly it looks like it gives you a very good preview right in your viewport that can be orbited around, etc.? Or is it more of a quick preview? If it's the former, what other programs would this work in besides Maya? Or more importantly what programs would this definately not work in? I primarily use SU, so I guess I'm really just wanting to know if this is something I can get excited about or if it's something that won't affect me.
