Nothing is above 240..I think all are 232 or under.
OK....Could you post your settings for the yellow wall material so we can see the layers and how it was made! Just curious that's all :)

Even the red channel of the BBQ sign logo? (not that it will be that big a difference, but...)

I would try changing the Sky Temperature of your scene in the Rendering Settings Dialog.

Basically this would cause everything to turn off-colour depending on your setting.

I think it is a good rule to avoid to have the sun directly behind the camera. If the sun is positioned behind the camera, you will have very little contrast, few visible (blueish) shadows , and almost everything will be dominated by the sunlight (yellow-ish). It would be nice to see the same rendering 4 hours earlier, with a much lower sun and a lot of interesting shadows.

for the yellow wall material i'm just using default diffused yellow plastic.

or maybe not..perhaps it was a stucco material

One way: the vertical light pole has only a small hint of a dark side to it on the right.

Setting up the sun should be priority number one. The easiest way to do this is to hide the whole scene and make a box with a cylinder on it (simple white material will do- switch to a top viewport, and change it to perspective - then you can do a quick render (800x600 will do). The render will show in seconds -- you can then adjust the ground rotation to get the direction of the sun exactly where you want by looking at the positin and length of the shadow cast by the cylinder. I would recommend the light coming in either from left to right of visa vera -- The choice of your sun's position will have a profound effect on how good the image looks. good luck!

ps - why are you called nappy? (made me smile!)

hi deflix,

As to your question why i'm called nappy..just a name i've been using when playing World of Warcraft ha.

Back to the issue at hand - I am not totally following. I see the sun in my rhino viewport..can i just manually move it to change its location?

In the render, the main face of the building is facing directly south so in the image, the sun is coming from right to left.

Sorry bub i'll send it out the "Stuff" later gimme ur contact info. Didn't get it to yesterday.

I am now onto another render and increasing the resolution SIGNIFICANTLY reduces the noise as i rendered something to "only" SL 11 and looks far better.

thx!

So as a general rule, if the sun is further away = more exaggerated shadows?

thx
