I don't want a war, but seriously, they only react when people are angry...
Sad to say that :(

I think that such a big time without news could only precede something big; for example, something that would need a lot of testing like the new RS.
I hope it's true.
I hope so but still that's not business model Ill support  It will be fear to say They Care Less than Last about customers relation or simply they don't know how to build one.
That may be a little unfair. Over the last few years I have been pretty satisfied with the support I have had when problems have arisen.

Let's not start a war here, that wasn't my intention.
Not talking about forum support but releasing new updates, fixing bugs, adding requested features...
Take a look at MoI and Coat3d (One Man Band Company) Then you will now what It can be achived. The support is top notch and you know whats going on with your investment. Not to mention Fryrender great company that keeps you in the loop, Chema Their lead programmer or only programmer is all over the place helping and releasing new updates every 2 months to fix bugs and to add features. (just to compere apples with apples)
Also just for the record I'm not a Fry user (yet) but I have been following the progress.

I agree, we have a great program and fully working, we are not back at the RCs period where everyone was right to be ungry... Now everything is getting better and better so let's be patient...
I don't understand why every other company has newsletters, announcements of upcoming releases, even short descriptions of future releases... and NL don't even bother to answer to a simple question like that... "What's going on?"

i think i'm going to buy Fryrender, that's what a lot of people did
My faith here is dead since a long time, and it's a chance there's still a few great people here, making this living
cause, consequence

Nicole are you reading this?

Please, could you make official that you guys are working on V2.0

the only reason I have stayed faithfull is, because I don't want to learn a new program. and because JD has done a great job with the rhino plugin.
but I'm also pretty disappointed. I know, NL has set some mile stones with their engine and they've done some good jobs. You could say, they've gone 80% of the way to a great program. but the remaining 20% are still missing since a long time. they were revolutionary once (and that's why I bought it). but they've fallen back way too much. And I'm not speaking of new features, but of quality and usability.

hi guys,

as far as i remember past the silence mostly was when the developers work hard on new things. (that is with most software so.)

any regarding fryrender, i have both mw and fryrender, and i can assure you even though fryrender is also nice in some points, you would miss there also many things you take for granted in mw. also i personally still find maxwell faster and in higher image quality, and i prefer the mw material a lot.

i think many forget that collecting features doesnt make a software good per se.
maxwell is already an amazing piece of software and i am positive the programming team is not lazy at all, and i guess that there arent any small updates recently would make me think they work on some new good stuff...

cheers
stefan

Hi everyone,

Here is what I can confirm:

- We are continuously working on updates and improvements for Maxwell Render and the plug-ins.
- We will release information about what is coming when the time is right, not when a customer feels he needs to know NOW.
- A Next Limit newsletter is coming out soon (within the next couple of weeks).

We appreciate all our customers and understand you are all eager to get your hands on new versions, features and improvements. We have a roadmap which we follow closely, but we cannot disclose information about future updates too soon, for a number of reasons which I have outlined many times. As Stefan mentions, silence means we are working hard to get things done; it does not mean we are too busy updating our Facebook or sitting in the pub drinking beer, or that we have forgotten about our customers or that we simply do not care anymore. On the contrary.

We have released 4 different plug-in updates in January only; we sent out a Christmas greeting card to our customers with some information about what we have been doing lately; we have a dedicated customer support team (sales and technical) and aim to reply to emails within 24 hours. However, if tomorrow I would have a flood of emails in my inbox requesting information about the development of Maxwell Render my answer would be the same as it is here: we are working on it, we will release information when the time is right. We have a huge range of plug-ins and operating systems to take care of, so that also makes for slower development. Maxwell Render 1.7 is being used successfully by numerous studios, artists and hobbyists, and it’s only getting better.

These threads pop up every once in a while, and usually get a strong reaction from the same handful of forum users. My answer is usually the same; so really, these threads are a waste of your time. Next Limit is a business and we can’t release information too early for obvious reasons. Help and support is provided wherever possible to enable you to work with the current version and to fix any issues you may have.

Cheers,

Nicole

Max, I have deleted one of your posts: the one that had a bunch of curse words in it. I would appreciate it if we could maintain a professional attitude in this forum. Thanks.

Of course i was kidding, if i wanna change, it would has been done for a long
Sad we must use those ways to have an answer from you, really really really sad...
I still don't understand how you can let people waiting & waiting without news, whatever the news are... i mean a little thing sometimes, and we're happy...
There are a lot of things we're waiting for a certain time, we just don't know today if they are on your roadmap... hard thing seriously... maybe a new Studio or something that kind?...
Sarcastic? I am, and i see a few others becoming too... just the consequence...

Max having bad words?!!? really?????? you should worry

The reason why these threads appear from time to time are the huge gaps between newsletters. I think threads like these show that people are still interested and eager to improve their loved product :)
The last newsletter I found was from 04/04/08 ... which has been almost a year ago (including the mentioned couple of weeks to the next one). The christmas card can't be counted, because it did not include any information at all.

There are many things requested on the wish list for a while now and on most of them, there isn't any message indicating that NL has taken notice of them. A lot of the suggestions there are very useful and from users who are trying to improve the render!

Also there's been a material contest announced a while ago which hasn't taken place yet. The last one is so far back that I can't even remember what it was ... must be the displacement contest more than one year ago.

I'm not saying that other renders are way better in terms of their engine, usability or customer relations. But the hope dies last, that NL will make a difference and produce a great software while maintaining great relations to their community.

Sorry for my unsorted thoughts, but I hope they show, why people are complaining from time to time.

greets,
kami

def4d.
see on the webpage from maxwellrender, you see quite many news, good plugin updates etc.
as nicole said, there are regular updates. even the last 1.7.1 update isnt too long ago.

programming software is hard work, and takes its time.
no buisness form will tell you their roadmap in advance, thats too dangerous obviously. i guess that should everybody understand.
also see apple or adobe or ms or autodesk or maxon etc. they tell you nothing (at least nothing usefull)

in past an update every 1-1,5 years was normal, today many think software must be updated all 3 months. that is not possible if you want to do serious jobs. and that will not increase quality or bring any good to us. in contrary. this idea is more scary...

i really dont understand some of you guys,...
let the programmers do their jobs, i am sure they will try to give us nice new stuff, when it is ready.

my 2 cents
cheers

ok, but you understand that they cannot spread out their secrets in advance, or?, i can imagine they woudl also love to spread out what they work on, but they cant.

and of course i would also love to know whats comming. but i know this is very much impossible if you want to keep up your buisness and not beeing copied. so i understand and respect NL. i am very sure they will tell as early as possible without harming the development.

cheers
