Sorry, but I'm not seeing anything like that here using the current versions: Maxwell Studio 1.7.1 and Maxwell for Rhino 1.7.31.

Hi Yanada,

Sorry, but doing that would remove most of the reason I made the file - to demonstrate some principles of using the Rhino plugin. Besides that, the MXS would end up being quite a bit bigger than I would want to host on my server. Please feel free to download the free Rhino evaluation version - the Rhino plugin will run just fine for the evaluation period, which is 25 saves, and you can export an MXS file that way if you want to play with it in Studio. If you never saved a Rhino document, you could use the plugin with it indefinitely.

Cheers,

JD

Okay, what I did was remove everything except the materials and backdrop, then exported an MXS. So, you could try to use this as a studio setup where you import some other MXS geometry, or import this scene into another MXS. You can download it here. The notes are in the readme.txt, but they're still Rhino-specific.

I've been following this thread and the one started here http://www.maxwellrender.com/forum/view ... hp?t=25633 and have come up with a simple studio setup.

In hyltom's thread he very kindly posts his LDR environment map but mentions that it lacks the control of using the multilight option. So I threw together a quick 'box' with lights on all faces that allow you to adjust the lighting coming from any side.

NB: please excuse the simplicity of the stand-in model - it's just there to give the lights something to bounce off! Also, this is just a quick setup but because of the excellent multilight facility it has quite a lot of flexibility.

White Studio using hlytom's LDR env map ------vs------ my mulitlight setup

Obviously the advantage is, you can now adjust the lighting values after the render (only their intensity, not their colour - unless someone knows how to!?)

NB: the value of the Back light needs to be 200 in order for it to seamlessly blend into hyltom's superb white floor material. All 'lights' are emitters using a 64x64 pixel hdr map - it's a low res map but seems to work ok.

MXS Scene can be found here http://www.richardosborn.com/maxwell/wh ... Studio.rar

enjoy... (and post some renders if you use it!)

Hi JDHill,

I about to test your scene. I have a question: Why is the floor plane on the middle of the cube? I believe It will work same if the floor plane is at the bottom.

Thanks for sharing!

Hi giacc - I'm not sure if you mean the Rhino download, or the empty MXS download. In either case, I don't think there's any cube in the scene - is this an object you imported?

very cool idea... this will actually help me out righ tnow..haha.

i think what he is speaking of is that the shiny white floor plane is sitting in the center of the hdri 'box'.. instead of sitting at the bottom of the box...zoom out and look at the wireframe..

Yep. I mean that the plane on which the object is standing is on the middle of the "cube" formed by the HDRI planes.

I see. Well, feel free to make a different hdri - this one was made by Hyltom, and the scene's backdrop is specifically set up to work with it. As you may know, if you move the camera down, the environment will move with it...so you'd need to make your own hdri.
