That green suggestion was for a brass material.. not for bronze ;) .. but bronzes with higher tin content also get greenish patina (could be nicely seen on old CuSn20 cymbals)

Oops! ok sorry, my mistake for misunderstanding what you said.

However my boot hdd with XP64 on it crashed today :( i'm on a temporary installed XP now on a old hdd and i'm trying to recover as much as possible from my old system, i only hope no other hdd's with valuable data were lost in this crash. Damn this sucks!!

I'll be back later sometimes, not sure when..

Maximus3D wrote:Sure thing Leo, i can tweak this into a more orange brown type of color if you want. :) but like any metal on a flat surface, especially reflective and semi-reflective metals it won't look good on flat surfaces. Take a look at the same one used for the Lux head rendering above, this time on a flat plane. Not to exciting is it.. :D

sure thing... flat surfaces kill materials

looking really great - i guess its the nature of the material anyway...in that its a mix of different metals anyway of different ratios. The flat surface is what im trying to get right - proving elusive.

Leo: That's right, flat surfaces sucks for metals. They love curved surfaces. :D

deflix: Yes you're right, it's a big messy mix of metals all carefully weighted in togeher to get one single solid metal. If flat surfaces is what you're going to map the metal material on then you have a tough challenge ahead. The enviroment and lighting are probably your keys to giving the flat metalsurfaces life.

Teabag: Thanks :) time.. i have more time than anything, it's unfortunately all i got since i'm unemployed. More updates will come as soon s my machine is fixed, i'm still working on reinstalling everything again.. phew!

Or perhaps, (in my case) I should add more details and make my flat surfaces... curvy

Jeshh Maximus... I though you got that sort out!!! haven't you been looking for a job since Maxwell beta?

So much talent, what is wrong with Sweden!!

Haha Leo, make that flat surface curvy :D that'll solve all your problems in a flash! :)

Nahh, getting a 3d job remains a dream. And yep i been looking for work since long before the alpha and beta days. Still am :( hope it'll get solved soon, i applied for a janitors job in north Sweden so i hope i get that.

Btw, talent is not the key here. You need to be a asskisser to get a job these days. Something i don't do.

Max, I think you should take advantage of your knowledge in 3d/rendering and open your own business.

Figure out what market you want to tackle... it could be anything from 3d renderings, to training DVD on how to use maxwell/ fryrender, to sell 3d objects.... and DO IT!!!

I just got nail $300 for a pre-recorded on-line seminar that I couldn't even save ( or at least that's what they though) !!!

And he sells this "seminars" like hotcakes, to prepare people to take a stupid exam.

Leo, that's not a bad idea but it's a business which is not easy to make a living from. It's difficult enough to earn money for food by working as a freelance 3d modeler.

Anyhow, the original topic of this thread was bronze shaders for Maxwell and i have now compiled them all into one big juicy package and i'll be uploading them as soon as possible to the MXM Gallery if people still want them to play with. If not you can just look at these materialballs.. :D

The range goes all the way from a copper/bronze alloy on the left side to a full bright bronze on the right side.

wow. this is by far the best bronze I've ever seen.
I could really use them (probably all of them), so I'm very much interested :)

Thank you very much kami  they should be useful until someone else come up with a much better looking bronze shader for Maxwell. :) i have just uploaded them all to the MXM Gallery so they should appear soon or tomorrow.

Btw, i mislabeled some dirs and filenames in the archives. For some stupid reason i called the materials brass. Doh! but you guys know what it is and what it should be so i guess it's ok. :)

Enjoy them and feel free to share your renderings on the forum you create using them.
