Thank you for the newsletter :) there were some nice improvements there, especially memoryhandling. Can't wait to see what's coming next and when..

Mike: How many days did that huge image require to render and on what monster system ?

paxreid: What feature are you refeering to ? i couldn't see anything like that in the newsletter.

I think with the next Maxwell they are releasing an interface where you type 'make this model look like a photo' and it does it.

Actually, it was only 8 hours, got to sl 7. I may just hit Resume on that later, and let it run some more :P It was rendered on a dual-proc, dual-core Opteron 285 system with 12GB RAM, though it only used 6.7GB. I bet I could get 20k out of the system, but.. why, really? :)

Whoops...Hi Maximus..

I may have made a mistake in my speed reading..

I combinded resume render with a different discussion
Of the things revealed so far, I can tell you Resume Render always being on without you having to think about it is something you get used to, fast.
You will not have to remake or re-do any materials... you may choose to make a tweak or two, but you don't have to.
My mistake...now rereading this..don't know why my mind connected THOSE dots...geeze.

Yep...resume is working nice...I recently put together a new machine (after losing a hard drive). So, I was running a 4400x4255 render in the background while working on other things ... then had a small problem (read: bsod) due to not installing the correct RAID drivers for my RAID0 system disk. I was down for the better part of a day fixing that up, then...started up mxcl.exe, reloaded the scene...hit go. An extreme example...but very nice indeed. :)

Mike: Sweet workstation you got  wow! if you ever get tired of it gimme a call i'll take care of it hehe. 8 hours on that machine, nice speed! but on a regular more normal PC it would require like 32 to 64 hours to finish.

paxreid: Hehe no harm done :D but it looked funny and interesting at first tho. I admit that :) it'd been a cool feature to have.

JD: Nice to hear it finally works :)

Hehe true, it's one mighty sized rendering.

Btw, the new LW plugin looks nicely integrated now from what i can see. A well deserved treat for all Lightwavers who been left behind for such a long time now. I hope it'll be stable and solid for them.

yes, very good news! better memory management and resume render again are really g r e a t improvements. :D
I hope this works with high poly scenes too.

The sad thing is that to give no new release date looks like it will be delayed for an indefinite time...

Be sure it's not that far ahead.
