try hit recalculate normals in the object property panel,with object from lightwave saved without the Maxwell Shader it smooths the mesh.

maybe it`s out of theme but check normals direction on your model just for sure. i remember model i made that has flipped normals but only on one surface of it. the result refractions looked weird (similar to the wineglass since it was glass object)

Ok here's just another silly test of these wineglasses which i let calculate during the whole weekend starting Friday afternoon until now Monday morning, so there's alot of hours into this one :) and it still looks horrible. But anyways i show you guys what it looks like no matter what..

Rendertime: 61 hours 50 minutes 32 seconds
Sampling Level reached: 18,83
