Hi, I just finished building this system and am pretty happy with the results:

cpu=conroe e6400 dual core
ram= 2 GB
time= 01:14:30
Bench= 57.32

*edit: I think this makes it the fastest dual core benchmark :)
(note: this entire system cost exactly 1270$ cdn. including tax :shock: )
*edit2: I reran the benchmark and the time was 12 sec. faster than the first time - pretty consistent.

conroe e6400
asus p5b deluxe wifi-ap
2gb kit of OCZ Platinum DDR2 800
Zalman cnps9500 led

Does someone have a laptop with the new Intel core 2 duo T7200 or T5600 or T5500. I'm very interested to see the benchmark score of these cpu.

Dell 690

Dual Xeon Woodcrest 5160 (3.0 ghz)
8 gb ram (i'm sure maxwell can only use 4 as 32-bit process)
XP64

1 test
time=00:44:33
Benchmark=96.04

Would love to see 64-bit maxwell :D

I wish I could take it home with me:) but alas it is a fixture of my office (just means I enjoy work a little more)

As for envy read this mmmnn Clovertown:
Intel will also deliver a quad-core (4 full execution cores) processor to the DP server segment based on Intel Core microarchitecture, codenamed "Clovertown." Clovertown is targeted for introduction in the fourth quarter of 2006, on the Bensley and Glidewell platforms.

Rumor has it the architecture is scalable to 32 cores! So hmm what's that...yep 8 license of Maxwell for one machine :P :D

Very exciting!

We just received 4 Dell 1U servers, each with 2 Xenon 5160 3.0 GHz Core 2 Duo's in them to create our first Maxwell render farm. That makes 16 cores -- Once we receive the 2U server with NAS storage to run mxcl -manager on and get the farm set up, I'll try and run the benchmark file to see what we can deliver...

I'm valuating to buy one of thise... any sugget to me please??

If you prefere you can post me the configuration directly to axlfog@yahoo.it

Please it this quite urgent cause in this days we are planning to buy a new powerfull machine...

If yes let me know...

Garbage75,

On page 10 of this thread there are times for the 5150 and a 5160 4 core system. The difference was about 3 minutes (less thean 10%). I would assume that the 5140 would be about 10 % or less slower than the 5150.

Maybe this helps

which one would be faster? intel or athlon? pc or mac? the speed test is outdated. would the upcoming quad core worth the wait? :roll:

you bet they are, possibly not for gaming but they sure are for rendering.
as long as quad amd or intel go, I wouldn't spend a cent on those upcoming 4x4 FXs, and rather wait till both cloverton and k8l barcelona are out (unless you can't resist and get yourself a quad core kentsfield as soon as they come out this november).

Hey there,

For what it is worth, I ran the test scene on our 4 machine x 2 processors per machine x 2 core per processors ( 16 cores) 3Ghz Woodcrests and set the time to 30 minutes.

We're running maxwll 1.1 so i am not sure how the scene for 1.0 works.

It achieved SL 12.05 in the 30 minutes.

Maybe daros can run it on his 70 x processor farm...

Is it possible to use this scene for 1.1 with comparable results??
