I am working on a kitchen rendering that has white silk curtains on each side of the window that should pick up the sunlight and spread it out AND be semi transparent and translucent. What are the quick material settings for something like this. I am guessing SSS is what I need but what material type should I start with?

Similar is a lampshade that is to be translucent and semi transparent. What are some starter material setting for this type of material?

I cannot figure out how to so a simple 50% transparent object - it does not need to refract. Is Dielectric material the right choice?
