Hallo,

could somebody of the NL team please response to this subject here:

http://www.maxwellrender.com/forum/view ... 8&start=30

Rhino has only a few render engines ready to use (the old flamingo and Rhinoman|AIR). So it could be a great chance for NL to get users from the Rhino side. Znouza seems to be a very committed Rhino user and programmer, a hope for the Rhino Maxwell user. Please, give a response.
Maybe, NL team can find here a good way to make the current ill Rhino plugin perfect.

Hi Micha,

I am well aware of all the Rhinoll-shortcoming.
However, to be honest - appart from UV-editing, the greatest limitations for my personal workflow are on the Rhino side.
And these are valid for every plugin-renderer already available and yet to come.

Compared to packages like 3DSMax, Rhino is at the very beginning of being a tool for professional render-work. It is not only about the pure output quality, but about workflow, that made (and makes) people export their Rhino models to 3DSMax or comparable packages.

If I had to break down the deficites of Rhino in respect of scene-setup and rendering I would mention:

- no powerful common Material Editor interface available yet, usable for Brazil, for Air, for Maxwell, for Flamingo ,Penguin and maybe also Vray)
- lack of native UV-mapping (yes, I know, but just to be complete)
- lack of many vital camera-controls
- meshing speed quality and controls
- lack of a kind of a powerful "scene state manager" for putting up a reasonable render queue

I could write a lot about every single point mentioned- and I will.
Maybe it works out this weekend; check the Rhino-newsgroup.

regards, Holger

... ok, Rhino seems not to be so easy, but the official developing has problem with realy simple things like a simple Diaphgram control ... and communication with the user. Most I never have seen an official answer in the newsgroup. This are not typical Rhino problems. And now a Rhino programmer starts writing a plugin (befor NL has send emails around " ... we are searching developer ..." ) but get no response. I don't understand it.

We, the Rhino user have a programmer, but he get no contact to NL. This is exasperating. :?

Great, Znouza is working on the plugin now. :)

Just to play devil's advocate here. ( I know Znouza and he is great person).

.. but to be objective Micha, how do YOU personally know that Znouza will produce a high quality plugin for you ? Have you tested anything yet ? How do you know it will have less bugs? Have you seen any of his other works ?

... I'm happy to see something is moving in the Rhino section. The current official, commercial plugin is since months no high quality.
We all know, that the NL have so much to do and the developing team is working multitasking on different plugins, so I don't belive we will get a good or high quality this year on this way.

The NL team have got much plaudit befor they release new things and most I don't feel so happy after it was ready to download. I know, it is a hard job. But every new rhino plugin was very buggy, after some minutes of use the first bugs was viewable. The bugs of Maxwell together with the plugin bugs/limitations makes no fun.

Znouza know the current state of the NL plugin and he start the project, because he want to do it better. And I think, if he spend time on it and speak with the people in the great supported Rhino newsgroups, he can do it.

If NL would work together with Znouza, than it could be a great extra motivation for Znouza and the NL team could focus more man power to the main project.
