Oneshot - bloody nice renders! I have not tried the MXI emitter technique yet, and would like to ask a question:

What shape geometry do you think is best for an emitter in this kind of situation? I'm used to using HDRI as an env. map in Max, but I guess it would be overkill to build a scene-size hemisphere with spherical UVW mapping for this kind of thing.

Any hints or suggestions?

Mahalo!

that's exactly what you have to do though:)

Nice renders, I wonder how they'll look when we don't have to use ldr images.

Wow, very fast. What kind of computer do you use?

Small suggestion: HDRI test will be better with non pur reflective objects. Now, you only see the reflection of the environment on the dragon, but the diffuse part of the lighting is more interesting.
If you use dark LDRI with a high intensity, the yield of the LDR dynamic is better for the lighting. Here an other test from me with a dark LDRI.

:(
This must be done in an other software like HDRShop. But, for commercial use is it expensive, for private use is it free.

Or just use the great free image viewer XnView. You can convert hdr->directly with it.

YES Photoshop CS2 Just has a WONDERFUL way of interpreting HDRi's To LDR's and creating Hdri's , I used to use hdrshop, and I never expected to NOT use HDR shop, but when we got our CS2 upgrade i was blown away, dont think ive had to exit photoshop to do any imaging since! 8)

In my first test I have got the same problem. I have check the surface normal and set the intensity to a higher level in the MXI viewer during converting the LDR -> MXI.
