I don't know what is causing the white dots but a slight blurring of images has been introduced in the recent Beta and hopefully will be cured in next weeks expected updated - hopefully the dots of all colours problem may also soon be sorted out.

the mxi viewer can be used to convert a low range image (bmp, jpg, tif, png, tga) into a mxi image (which is the high dinamic maxwell's format). you can then use this image as an mxi texture for emitters.

as for your image, it maybe needs a bit more work on the seatings (both modelling and shader). those white dots looks like caustics to me, but this beta has some dots problem, so i'm not sure.

those seats seem to lack detail (as if they were just bidimensional sheets), but maybe it's just me. i think some roughness and a fine bump map might help as well.
