Hi All,

I am about ready to post the promised HDR studio image creation kits and have a question.

At what resolution would everyone prefer them? They are at 6000 x 3000 now. There are commercial studio HDRI images out there that run into the 800+ MB range. Which has me scratching my head, why would anyone want a studio HDRI lighting image that big? Perhaps one of you can answer that question...bragging rights maybe? Maybe for backgrounds? A large JPEG would do just as well. Surely no one is going to use something like that for IBL are they? If so there is a solid argument against it. But maybe I am completely in the dark here and you could shed some light on this for me?

Personally I use the kits no larger than 3000 X 1500 and usually at 2000 X 1000. But I thought I would throw it out there and see what you all have to say before I post them.

For a lighting kit type 6K should be fine I think. I can see using higher res when you need detailed hi-res reflections, or if intend to alo use it as your background. Othersie I don't really know.

Looking forward to seeing what you've put together.

I must say I saw a nice render done with an HDRI out of that program (over at the Fry forum) and it looked pretty damn nice Still think it's too costly though.

We're planning to add a feature like that in VE to 'burn' emitter configurations into HDR maps.
