Testing Solidworks and Maxwell running 64-bit on a Boot camp Vista'd MacPro.
No problems until I tried to install the Maxwell license; I choose it and Maxwell remains unlicensed.
Is there a different license to run studio on Vista 64? or a trick to get it to load?

same license and procedure…

did you copy the file to the Maxwell directory or go through the Help menu in Studio?

If it doesn't "stick", try running studio as the administrator (RMB over the shortcut and select "Run as Administrator), then go through the Help menu licensing option.

I'm having a helluva time trying to get all my apps to run on Vista 64... First, my version of formZ throws errors at me when I update it to the latest version, then Poser 7 hangs on startup, now MXST hangs on startup. WTF.

When installing and attempting to run all of these, I've used the "run as administrator" option, but no luck.

The point at which MXST hangs is right before the 3D scene window opens, which is also before the splash screen/licensing window shows up. Doesn't this sound like it could be a graphics card driver issue (OpenGL)? I hesitate to install a different driver than what came from Apple. Has anyone done this with the GeForce card?

You must install your programs in full administrator mode. If you are seeing the "run as administrator" buttons, then you are not in administrator mode. This can be done in User Accounts from the control panel. It's the bottom most option that allows full unrestricted control.

Problem solved... The friggin' nVidia drivers that apple ships with Leopard for Bootcamp are OLD. I just installed a much newer certified driver for the 8800 GT card, and now both MXST and Poser work fine.

As much as I love most of what Apple does, this kind of stuff pisses me off. If they say Vista 64 is only "supported" 64bit option for bootcamp, then SUPPORT IT ALREADY AND UPDATE THE DRIVERS!!!
