Hello there,

I've been wanting to do this for ages. I've always thought it would be cool to have this implemented as a multilight feature. For the ram issues you would have to be able to set the "resolution", ie hourly, half-hourly..., before the render and then a special slider in multilight to set the time... But you're right the sky itself would have to change and that might be a problem.

I was actually searching the forum for something else when I found this thread. Anyway I thought I'll share this video with you, that I did a while back:

Tell me what you think. The sun path is a series of planes arranged at half hour intervals and with an intensity ranging from 2000-5000 kelvin.

Awesome!

At last someone has had a chance to apply this in a real scene. What application did you use? Was it Max? It looks like sun is being reflected on the building. Great job!

I am not sure if Maxwell does multilight in Kelvin. Can someone confirm this?

What I meant was that the planes have different emitter materials applied, from 2000K (dawn/dusk) to 5000K (noon).

I'm sure that what I did here could be somehow automated via a script - yes it was done in Max, but it can be done with any software I'm sure - but what I really was rambling on about in my previous post was a direct implementation in Maxwell, so the "Environment" would have an additional slider or option, for time of day...

But that's probably beyond the point - I'm not sure it's worth to invest in something that maybe not so many people are interested in. What would be on my wish list though is some work on the Multilight animation editing in general, maybe just something as simple (or not) as being able to edit .emixer files in a text editor, or being able to drag key frames. That would've definitely sped up my work flow on this particular and several other projects.
