As an institutionalised hater of MAX and all Autodesk products I am wondering if anyone has found a workaround for the programs idiotic paths system. Presently All machines on our network and renderfarm use the same logical drive L:\ . so on a given workstation when creating a scene I would select a material, and render it fine on that workstation. Once exported and rendered on the network however the nodes all fail because MAX stupidly deletes the logical drive letter from all these paths. The only workaround I currently have is to make copies of each material to my project directories and manually re-select each map in turn. Tired of the endless battles I'm engaged in with 3dsmax and hoped that someone here might have a workaround??
Clearly not possible to expect a juvenile, purile and talentless company like Autodesk to EVER inject anything worthwhile into anything they do so relying on you guys.
