I have a large image (6000x4000px) which I set rendering last night on 2 Macs in co-operative mode. When I came in today, my main IntelMac running Manager and Server has 2 screens showing a frozen screensaver so I can't get onto it. The other, an iMac running Server only is fine and when I launch mxcl there I can see that they are both rendering happily. I'm also able to mount the frozen IntelMac and access any files on it, so it obviously hasn't crashed.

I'm wondering what I should do now to un-jam my IntelMac. Can I stop the rendering safely from the Server-only iMac and resume rendering when I've sorted the problem? I would have thought you have to manage that sort of thing from the computer running Manager.

And has anybody got general tips on how to set Energy Saver when doing a long render. My policy has been to disable Energy Saver when rendering but leave Screen Saver on to save the monitor which stoopidly doesn't have an off switch! TIA

Maxwell doesn't get along well with screensavers in my experience. I'm not a Mac guy, but can you stop the screensaver program in the task manager (or equivalent)?

Yeah, easily done.

I decided to bite the bullet and try to stop that node but it's said "Stopping" for about an hour now, I think I'll have to force a reboot of that Mac. Do you know if there's a way to retrieve the work it's done to merge into the other Mac's mxi?

Thanks

It would normally save the cooperative.mxi somewhere on your hard drive, but since it's having problems while stopping, it might not write it completely. Just do a search for that term.
