Hi again everyone, I am rendering a scene at a high resolution (3500 x 2145) my sample level is at 15.11 after 46 hours. It looks clean but on my lower resolution renders I render out to SL 18 or so.

I am wondering... how does the resolution influence sample level? The scene looks really clean- I think cleaner than my lower resolution scenes at higher SL's (or is this in my head :) ).

The scene consists of a couple of rings using only one complex ior for the diamonds, for the gold I used a preset metal with a scratch-map added.

For lighting I am using one large emitter plane with a .mxi texture and three small emitters made from spheres cut in half.

Any insight would be welcomed :).
Thanks in advance,
Cary

Hi,
I usually render at 5000 *3500 ,I print in A3 format ,and my sample level are usually 13/15 . When I print with this sample level the noise is more like grain .No needs to go up with sl . The print is clean .
With lower resolution you have to go up with SL . The noise is still noise.

Thanks lopatam! My image was a lot cleaner at SL 15 and 3500 x 2100 resolution than other images SL 17 and 800 x 700 resolution.

I would love to know the exact correlation but I figured that I would render to SL 13-15 and see how it looked when it printed.

Thanks
Cary
