Yes, you're right. The Maxwell plugin only works with SketchUp Pro, but not with the free version.
However, you can download an 8 hours full tryout version of SketchUp Pro and try it. The Maxwell plugin works there properly.

8 hours full tryout version of SketchUp Pro IS WHAT I USE BUT when i go to 3d export I can not see any .mxs....any recommendations ?
