I saw a nice tip on the forum where somebody created a long tube object with an emitter inside it - sliding the emitter back and forth would create a wide, diffuse or tight, focussed beam. I'm trying to set this up but I'm wondering about material settings for the tube to maximise the light but minimise noise. I tried a very black material so that there was minimal bounce but it seems to suck up most of the light. White is very diffusing and noisy. A chrome material would seem to make sense (as in the real world) but that must put a lot of noise into the scene - anybody else resolved this?
