I have maxwell since 2 days, it's early to say if it's easy to use maxwell. I have some problems to export scene and understand maxwell's philosophy. I try to find a french person who use this plug-in for win time.

I have Arlantis R, it has improved much from Version 4.5, but it stay a lot of less better than Maxwell. You need a big back ground on photoshop to product a good picture. Artlantis is a good tool if your are speed.

Although I'm currently using the Maxwell plug-in for FormZ (really just experimenting with it now), I'm planning on purchasing Archicad within the next couple of weeks. I would expect that the complexity level of using Maxwell within Archicad would not be much different than using it inside FormZ. Considering the absolutely awesome output of Maxwell, the setup is very simple. In the Beta version (which I, as others, purchased at half the cost of the final program) there are some things that need to be fixed, transparencies don't seem to work well and neither do what they call clipmaps (2D images on a transparent 2D plane like trees and bushes), and there are what I think are some settings that need to be looked at. One feature of the Maxwell setup requires some knowledge of camera settings (f/stop, shutter speed, ISO). We've been assured that the bugs will all be fixed in the final version coming out in two weeks. Don't be expecting render speeds that you currently are experiencing with the Lightworks rendering engine in Archicad, expect at LEAST an overnight render for each image. The folks at Next Limit are also apparently working very hard on the render time issue, but even then I would not expect these kind of renderings in minutes.

I got my ArchiCAD plug in today. I have my first Maxwell rendeing going now. It is at about 85%. Should I be seeing something besides black at this point? or does Maxwell not show anything until the render is finished?

Steve, I haven't used the ArchiCad plugin, but you should see something right away, although it will be really noisy. I use the SketchUp plugin, and I've found if I don't set the environment paramaters before exporting, you'll get a black screen. HTH.

Hi Steve. Did you:

1. Save the *.mxs file first?
2. Turn on Maxwell Sky/Sun?
3. Set daytime there?
4. Set ISO / Shutter around 100 / 250 value?

If so, you should get some result right after switching to MR.
I was playing with AC plug-in for some time and didn't find it really productive because of lack of shader control like 3Dstudio users have, however it doesn't really matter since there is only 4 days to release, which (I hope) change everything.

See you on Archi-Talk forum mate.
