Thanks NL for releasing the ArchiCAD 10 plug-in.

I mostly use ArchiCAD on a MAC but I have a Win XP box too, and since I am running AC 10 on an Inter Mac it would not do me any good anyway until Intel Mac friendly M~R is out.

The plug in looks great in AC10, very nicely integrated from what I have briefly seen, I'll have to play more.

One quick comment, I did not find a "render in low priority" swith, nor a command line where I can assign "-p:low"

Am I just nor seeing it? I can always just export the mxs only and render at the command line but is an axtra step that would be nice to avoid.

Thanks,

D

I was hoping it would work on my first try. I installed the add-on, it does open the maxwell render program when I click render, however, I get an error message that says

Error: XMS file not valid."

Hi rendek,

We could open your file try.mxs in both Studio and Maxwell 1.1 without getting issues. are you using v1.1?

About the OSX version, please read this post:
http://www.maxwellrender.com/forum/view ... highlight=

We are doing our best looking for a workaround to solve this issue, we hope we can release it very soon. My apologizes for the inconveniences.

Kind regards,

Juan

I Had some problems with it as well at the start.

1. If you are rendering or simply saving out from Archicad it is very important that the following directory exists C:\Documents and Settings\user\My Documents\ Even if you specify your own directory it will always default back to this directory. Seems to be a bug  I use a Swedish system and found out pretty quickly that the add-on needs this directory, obviously it's not called that on a Swedish system.

2. I have found some anomalies in the add-on, now the following could be simple settings but I have been trying with the default settings and have found the following.
In Archicad the default focal length, film height and the film width are all over the place. They seem to be 10 times bigger than a default studio are.
This in effect gives an undesirable Depth Of Field result.

One other thing I have noticed is that the plug in has a very high shutter speed compared to a default studio scene, which I think is 1/250 by default.

If you set a 1/250 shutter speed in Archicad the image is very light. As you know in real terms 1/1000 is an extremely fast shutter speed.

Just what I have found so far. Other than that the add-on works great
This is just a quick test with the new add-on

Yes, you have to specify the file location or make sure that you have the folder that it defaults to or it will crash, it is not just on the AC plug-in that it happens.

Otherwise, I was able to just install and render with no errors.

I am a novice at ArchiCAD so I do not know how the texturing works or anythign like that yet, I usually do that in C4D, but so far so good.

Sorry,
I was just reading through what I posted and what I have written is a little misleading  It is just the "My Documents" folder that needs to be present not the whole directory as I have written in my previous post. If I'm not mistaken it doesn't matter what language your OS is Documezts and settings is always just that.

Cheers.

Juan,

thank you very much for the quick response. I can open this file in Maxwell Studio with no problem. The issue is that if I want to see a preview the "strating preview" flashes up for a slit second and than nothing happens. The same goes with rendering. If I hit render, it starts the rendering and right after I get a "completed" with no result at all (grey screen) and no error.

I noticed the 10 times greater film width and height as well.

Is there a setting that can cause the "no result" in my case?

Thanks,

Adam

rendek,
Are all of your textures that are conected to materials present? This could cause a grey render, you colud switch over to the consol tab and see it displays any errors.

Cheers.
