Hello ArchiCad Maxwell users,

This plugin ends a month of frustration for me.... I could not get the previous ArchiCad plugin to work, however in a few minutes with the new plugin I produced an image (with ArchiCad 9 and windows).

The first thing I did is rename the Maxwell.dll to Maxwell.apx. Then I used the Addon manager under tools to search for and add the addon.

Then I created a new camera, and chose a time for the sun (it looks like this apx will not convert any kind of light other than a sun, so if you only see black it is because you need to add lights in maxwell first).

I chose 6 minutes to render at 25 samples and 640x480, and I rendered a fairly complex overaly of a construction project with a tower crane and a building with a lot of windows and an underground parking garage (this is work in progress, so the terrain is correct - i just haven't completed it). Kind of grainy but fairly simple - no mistakes in geometry and textures even came through.

My first image so I am sure they will improve. I am happy ArchiCad is on the way - next plugin should fix everyting?

Albert

ps: how do I post an image on this thread? I don't have a webhost ing address. If anyone want I can email them the image?

Thanks for the link to web hosting site.

Here are 2 links to my first and second rendering. Also like everyone else my models import sideways, so the sun is coming from an odd angle... still you can see that all the geometry imported in the 2 scenes (except for rotation/orientation). Even the materials came through from ArchiCad.

Hello ArchiCad Users
I have this problem with RC5:(I don’t think its working )
I save the 3d window (on camera perspective view ) as Maxwell file (*.mxs) but in the importing on RC5 appears the message :
<<The mxs is obsolete or has been corrupted >>
Is there any solution?

I am getting the same error.

The answer to the problem is to find and erase the item (probably furniture) that creates the problem. ( corrupted library)
If you try importing only the walls you’ll find out that is working (Pawel Kruk helped a lot !!)

Yes i already figure that out...

some objects make that... but in a big project how to find????

Is impossible...

Hi goncalo. Here are some tips that may help not only with MR but when exporting to any other renderer:

1. Make separate layer for every kind of objects you have (plumblig fixtures, furniture, decoration, trees, people&cars, roof accesory etc)
2. Make two different files for exterior and interior scenes
3. For exterior - switch off every layer which doesn't take a part in a scene (like furniture, decoration or even interior walls)
4. For interior - like above..
5. Do not use any archicad lights when importing to MR (they doesn't work anyway)
6. Do not use archicad trees (escpecially with clipmaps - this is obvious).
7. Some of AC objects have a "resolution" parameter for curve quality - keep it at 60-90 level.
8. For tracking of a corrupted library parts - for sure it is not a wall, slab, roof, post, beam, door or window. It is propably mesh or some library object - try to export them first (layer by layer) and see when you get error message.

Hope this helps

And be sure that you are not using the local ArchiCad version !! (I had to use the international-English version).
