I just downloaded RC2.

A am not to worried about it anyway. These beta versions are just to play around with until we get the real thing. It's not as if they have any obligation to send us beta stuff anyway. I think its great that they let us in on how things are developing.

Yeah Steve! will wait for a original 1.0 release. And I think they read forum too, and are preparing new ArchiCAD plug-in, because 23/9 version is almost imposible to work with.
it's interesting for me, wich 3D soft is used for examples, and what software is #1 priority for NL developers. Any clues? :?:

models for use with RC2 seem to work better if you save as a .3ds file and use the Maxwell Studio to import it. It may not look like you have anything at first but if you play around with the camaras you will find you model.

Does anyone have any luck with the ArchiCAD add-on yet? Since the .3ds file we can make does the trick I am not sure we need and ArchiCAD add-on anyway.

MAX of course. But what Architectrual software does it work best with? I see that ArchiCAD is the only Architectrual Software program with a plug-in / add-on .

we still need archicad plugin, as i would prefer to work inside archicad if it means better more efficient/simpler workflow.

would use of a plugin still enable us to use maxwell's power of material editor, maxwell cameras & lighting etc. inside archicad...without opening studio & importing mxs or 3ds

If u use the plugin, & make changes to archicad model/design, will it be possible to update mxs file without losing previous work in maxwell?

It would be perfect if it would be possible to import material asignment, light and camera positions/parameters when 3D model has changed, or for similar project.
this would be very cool for architects, as we almost never have a final design sutable for client from the first time.

in the other hand it seems to me that Maxwell is oriented to make a perfect , photorealistical but slower renders, and we will have to use Artlantis (which is improoved too) for making intermediate renders for clients...

or to knock them out with the superrealistical renders from the first time

does anybody from NL can answer about theese wishes? :?

Export of ArchiCAD model to 3ds significantly increases number of model segments (each object is converted to triangle planes). I'm not sure about technology Maxwell uses for calculation, but it may increase render time very much :( .

So it will be better to have a plugin, which converts ArchiCAD objects in a "inteligent and wise" way  and has a direct link (update) between original 3D model and maxwell. :D
