I found that when I render MR v2 with my one old scene which created 1.7 or older, My cpu usage varied a lot and update time is soooo long.

So I exported object and make new scene with import. Now it works correctly.

I don't know this is helpful to you, just one case of mine.

Personally I'd always use real objects unless you are running out of real memory (not virtual memory which is very slow), in that case you should always use instances, but even if you are not running out or memory you should be able to use instances without such a performance loss you are reporting.

That's exactly what we are looking into, we'll focus all our energies in improving it for the first patch, we will keep you updated :)

Thanks all for comments and help - looks like it is a bug then.

The scene i sent to Mahai was not my original problem scene it was a couple of new scenes (one for 1.7 and one for v2) made from scratch to try and recreate the problem - very simple - 100x100 instanced teapots + physical sky, not even a camera - easy enough to try yourselves if you want.

looking forward to 2.1 already! :(
