I find the same delay.
For instance if I want to assign a material from the material list, to an object into the objects list, if I drag it before that delay, it will not be possible to assign it to the objec. If I made it slowly on purpose, it will work.
It is not a problem with my machine, or windows version, since I can use Maya in the same machine and it do not show such delay.
It must be something with Studio.
Thanks

Here its that slow that i can even really browse.
I did some more tests and saw this effect by scenes with more polygons or a little moer complex setup like an entire room with some things to it.
i have got the same problems running on xp64!

To give more specific samples:
If you check the box to show normals, it takes 3 to 4 seconds to update the view, and if you uncheck it again, it takes 3 or 4 more seconds to update again.

Could it be related to high res textures you're using or heavy geometry? Is the problem persistent with a simple scene?

The delay is increased in case of heavy models.
300000 polygons scene produces a much slower reaction.
I have no heavy textures, so I asume this is not related with it.
It seems to be related to heavy models, but if compared to Maya 7 in the same machine and same model, you can see a huge diference.

i agree - i see studio slow down on a new model even before any textures are applied.

mmh..
I've made a try with a (quite) heavy one..well, I've just put some polys on a scene.

I still have no delay
I'm pretty sure that I could add twice polys or more with no real problem.

For the test, I've run with a quadrofx2500m-512mb on a dual core ti2600 and xp 32bits.

I have also an nvidia gf6800 on another pc, I had problem with vbo, more than this , it was a pity with "display list" (I don't know if Maxwell uses vbo) but now it's fine if I disable vbo or any optimisation . Tough cards do not need any optimisation sometimes.

I know also that some nVidia drivers had bugs (especially with the new openGL displacement techno. ("Hexagon" in example..now nVidia fixed it with the last drivers) .

piem,

Fast and Slow are relative concepts, so you have to relate them with something else.
A good comparison would be, handling the 3d model you have in Maxwell Studio, and compare it with other software in the same machine, and point the behaviour diferences.

Otherwise we would be comparing apples with oranges.
Just my viewpoint.

in fact the same scene in studio works twice slow than in 3dmax...

Yes giacob,
The best as I experienced is a 1/2 the speed in Studio compared to Maya.
But sometimes moving a single face in a medium complexity model takes forever, and the delay is soo long that you are forced to do very slow movements so that Studio has the time to show them in the viewport.
I would say Studio can be 10X Slower compared to Maya in those cases, and I use a 3d viewport that is almost my monitor size, while in Studio the 3d viewport is 1/4 of my monitor size.
Anyway most of times I stop moving them, and see how the viewport continues moving the object ahead the right position, and I cannot do nothing but wait it to stop in a decent place, and reconsider the new position, knowing that it could take forever to get it right. Most times Studio has the last word on my design, because it became an obstacle rather than a tool.

Hmm... weird. Nowadays, I started to experience x64 too and it's truly behaving the same in many other applications, not only Maxwell indeed.
