Hi, I have rendered stuff in Maxwell before but all of a sudden it will not launch. I have had a look at my logs and I get this:

Memory error: opening targa fileLicense file not found. Program aborted.
Please Register Maxwell.

I have the appropraite license file in the macOS folder inside
the package. Have even tried replacing it but to avail.
What could be the problem?

Thanks in advance...

Actually if I think about it, I had a strange error when trying to render
something before. It did actually switch to Maxwell but
an error occurred when reading a bitmap (assumed it was a texture).
There was only one texture and that was a jpg. I restarted FormZ as
I could not figure out what the problem was and then when I clicked
the render button, nothing! Have not been able to launch Maxwell at all since then....?

Hello John,

Your issue with the licenst has nothing to do with this other issue with bitmaps. It seems your license file has been corrupted due for any reason. Please post your issue in the OS X (if you have a mac) section of the forum or in the general section if you have a pc. Sure you get a solution soon.

Test that the mxs file is written after you press the render button. If the file is written but after that maxwell returns an error when it is launched, you have some problem. It may be due to the license (so maxwell will show you a warning about that) or it could be due to an issue with bitmaps (see if the error is show after the "loading bitmaps process". In that case, you wil see in the terminal which is the bitmap that causes the issue and you could fix it in your formZ scene.

Best regards,

Juan

I have now managed to get it working by replacng the license file
(still not sure why it died) but now I am having problems testing
different materials.

I get a Loadin bitmaps... ERROR: render failed :(

When I lok in the logs I see

MAXWELL RENDER (M~R) version 1_2_2_beta
MAXWELL Console Application version 1_2_1_beta
(C) 2004 Next Limit Technologies

Why is it looking for a mxi file. I only have used JPGs.

cheers

This is very weird. is this your scene or it is a model of other person? Delete the mxs file generated and press render button again to be sure that the mxs file is not and old one. Maxwell is looking for a mxi texture. Be sure that the emitters of your scene have not applied a surface style with a color map assigned, even if this is a jpg texture. In Formz plugin mxi textures are not fully supported yet and sure it is the cause. MXI textures will be added in the next update.

Juan
