...........not a single word about formZ in that letter.
Bah. No news is good news? I don't think so.

Hi :)

I understand you're impatient; sorry, we run as fast as we can. This are tests from 5 mins ago. This feature was not announced in the preview list, but now the plugin can get FormZ sun and the shadows match the ones of the formZ viewport. Here you can see a simple test showing the sun shadows behind a clipmap extracted from formZ procedurals:

Nice, Juan!
But........ what's happening at the tip of the cone?
And: the procedural generated map is mapped reverse on the back. Looks like correct cubic mapping of the front side generated map. If you can do that, maybe you can already read the procedural's result on all faces of the mesh and map them accordingly? How about more complex geometry? Doesn't that call for more advanced UV mapping? Can you get that from formZ?
I am interested..

IMHO, I am ready to use the software, hopfully free of bugs, rather than add new features...how about a beta for us eager users?

I think that everybody thought that this update would come with the next package and were a bit disapointed to see that other users would be on the line first. Nevertheless what make the users so impatient is that it looks
so good. ....

Looking good, Juan!

I echo the thoughts of other formZ users...I'm very excited about using the new plug-in. If you need any additional feedback on it thus far, you won't have to look far to find beta testers. I'd love to try it out.

Has Z really become such a small and irrelevant community, that every plug-in gets updated, only Z stays as an eternal anouncement (see sketchup 6, which is basically a very basic modeller only)?
Very sad to see, that one of the pioneer 3d applications falls behind in priority (yes, you can call me sentimental).

We are not looking down any platform; it is just that we are not going to release anything that needs to be improved. It will be released when it is ready, not before. This day is very close to come, probably in the next two weeks, but if we find any issue that needs to be tuned, we will fix it before the release.

Thanks Juan. I understand but you should also understand the impatience, especially as you were announcing the Z plug-in already in the December newsletter.

Hi Uki,

I understand and share your impatience and we work as hard as we can to make it as good as possible. Some days ago we started to write the new manual and in the materials section I noticed that the mapping of some parameters of transparent shaders to maxwell dielectrics must be improved. It is done and it looks really better, we have to finish the manual and fix some minor issues and that is done. Believe me, we are as impatient as you :)

Hi Juan,

Things must be well done...in time, and your job is as mine: very difficult!
Don't worry we trust you. Take care to you, it's very important for us.
No car, no ski, no hollidays :) :D

Jean-Luc

So, is this a known issue?
