make an emitter with the material editor and then apply it as an mxm in FormZ, works a charm for me

check the direction of your emitter
in wireframe mode go to the display options and click on show direction
if your emitter is a simple plane there should be an arrow pointing from the centre of the plane towards whatever you want to illiuminate

I made that mistake once and it took me forever to figure out

if it is pointing the wrong way either rotate it around or use the change direction tool

check your scene scale too.....if it's the wrong scale then your light source may not be bright enough to illuminate your piece

There is a flaw in maxwellZ material export; values end up too low in the mxs, hence the darkness. Juan recognized the issue and said it will be fixed. So far mxm materials are safe. For emitters you can try some of the presets in the materials database ("lamp presets").
More prose on this here http://www.maxwellrender.com/forum/view ... hp?t=17446

To check scene scale, open your mxs in Studio and "measure" your objects with the grid, or select an object: min and max xyz values are displayed in top left viewport corner. Should be same as in formZ.. Export scene scaling is set in the plug-in palette (default: x0.01).

For mxm gallery website maybe help can be found in this thread

Good luck.

s'ok formax I consider myself a newb on Maxwell too

Because I work in inches in FormZ I have the scale set at 0.025 in the MaxwellZ pallette. I'm not entirely if this is right but I seem to get the best results with this.

have you tried playing with the camera settings....it might just be hugely under exposed.

If it's just a simple scene maybe try sending over and I could take a quick look at it. I sent you an e-mail via your webiste address.
