I first downloaded Maxwell Studio and deleted the beta version. I also deleted the Maxwell files in the FZ plug-in folder per the instructions. I opened Maxwell Studio and "inserted" the license, so that is working fine. I then unzipped the FZ plug-in files into the FZ plug-in folder, but when I open FZ there is no Maxwell pallette as I had w/the beta version. The plug-in does not seem to be there (inside FZ). Maybe I should not have deleted the beta stand-alone version???? :(

Josephus...

I too have the same problem....seems they didn't test any aspect of this release.

hello Zs,

1. well, i have checked the old plugin and found two files that i copied to the new plugin folder and it works (those are the files for the palette and material texts, which miss in the new plugin folder).
2. make sure that you change your enviroment paths for maxwell as described here:
http://www.maxwellrender.com/forum/view ... &start=285 (see my post)
3. maybe you have to copy the license.dat file also (keep it in your maxwell root folder as well) to subdirectory \mxcl.

it should work by then. at least it did with my maxwellz.
if you do not want black and white renderings you have to make sure to set the lights (emittors) to custom color. do not use presets.

and also have a look for other issues decribed in the maxwell render forum.

hope this helps !!!

cheers

I never got a prompt during installation for the .dat file that NL emailed on Thursday. When I opened Maxwell Studio (as it shows up on my desktop), it opened up Maxwell Render RC1. I then went to the "Help" pulldown menu and clicked on license file. I then copied the .dat file there.

The install instructions also say to delete the old FZ plug-in files. I don't know if that is such a good idea (maybe should just overwrite) as indeed there were two files (Maxwellattributes.enu.fzr and Maxwellz.enu.fzr) that are not included in the download. When I retrieved those files from the recycle bin :) I did get the plug-in dialog boxes to come up again but they're (obviously) the beta version and don't include some of the enhancements we've heard about. So we'll have to wait until NL puts up the RC1 version of those files.

Michael, did you get the new dialog boxes inside FZ with the old files that were not included in the download?

Josephus

Yes if you put into the maxwellz directory the tow old files all work fine (for the palettes)

But if you launch a rendering the MXCL.exe is not found.
I made a post for this, i wait for a response

hmm, it "works" but it's the old beta dialog boxes (pallettes) and I need the new ones to change some of the settings. Check your other post for how to get Maxwell to find the mxcl file.

I will insert the path for MXCL.exe in the environment path settings
