Well, it looks like RC5 is definitely a working program (again)...I'm excited. In a quickie test the plug in seems to work fine, but how do I get the black background in the clipmap to be transparent (using FZ plug in)?

hey you guys should have a look in the maxwell render forum sometimes.
not exerything is covered here in the plugins sections.
do a search there and you will find severall entries about clipmaps.

Yes, I saw that thread...can't say that I could make heads or tails out of it though. Looks like from what I read that it doesn't work in RC5 but there are "workarounds" for those who are a bit more advanced that I am at this point. Right now I'm having MAJOR issues with the render time, 20 hours of a kitchen interior with very grainy final result. I've sent it in to NL to check the file which was done inside FZ, hoping they'll tell me some settings inside the FZ materials caused this. The good news is that RC5 seems to be about where the beta was.
