I have wished many times for the Revit plugin. It is a dream for now because we don't even have AutoCAD plugin so you can imagine...
Actually Revit 9 (and now 9.1) was the first release with a decent API. You can't write a plugin without the API, because there is no way to communicate with the application. I don't know if this happens on purpose but IMO AutoDesk would prefer to keep Accurender a bit longer and when changed it should be replaced with Mental Ray.
Anyway, I'm with you 1000%. I use Revit a lot, it is a very nice tool for me and with Maxwell it would be the best team.

I'm getting great results with Revit>Max>Maxwell. The models from Revit are so efficient I can never go back to modeling seperately from the CD drawings.

It would be great to cut out the middle step, but there are a lot of features of Max which Revit would need before I would completely switch.

I agree, Revit needs more modeling tools but the most important thing that makes us use MAX is the millions of models to use from misc companies like Evermotion, AXYZ, etc... Also the plugins like onyxtree, speedtree etc...
The solution for this is simple but AutoDesk keeps Revit back for a reason...Max is more expensive and they want us to buy two apps instead of one. The solution would be a max-rvt converter and a strong API for plugin development for Revit.

To be honest, this is why I never liked software that made things easy.
I was working with AutoCAD making 3Ds for years and then I decided to use Revit which I loved from the 1st second.
All the previous years with AutoCAD I liked that most people found it difficult to learn and I could make money with it... Now with Revit, every newbie can finish a simple project after 3-5 hours of working with Revit even if it is the 1st time ....Well, that's progress.

Anyway, I don't think that a maxwell plugin for revit will be a solution because as I posted before we would need some hundrends of decent models (revit 3d for furniture and other things is not good) and probably a nice plant modeler. Or , we would still need MAX to make them and then convert them to .rvt files.
