Any features you'd like to see implemented into Maxwell?

I wish the faulty render button to be reprogrammed into a give refund button.

i think this was mentioned before but... i wish that i could render straight from my native application like the beta.

either that or maybe a compromise of rendering straight from MAX ... OR... straight from the maxwell studio... just seems easier thats all

Other thing...
I want the documentation in the SDK about how to merge MXI files without the Maxwell Node.
I prefer to use my nodes and not Maxwell ones.
I worked on my nodes for 4 years.
They are very intelligent nodes.
My nodes recives data through broadcasting.
My nodes mange contemporanly 3 rendering engines... and they take in account about 50 hardware exeptions. No way that they fail a task.

If NL want to sell MW to normal render Farms this is a must.

for the scale issue, it would be necessary to see not only the scale factor of an object, but the real size, i never know if my teapot is 5 kilometers big or 5 millimeters.

A small and easy one : please, take these "camera" and "shading" dropdown button out of the window and put them in the top bar : will make nicer screen grabs (since so many people rely on the preview now).

I dunno if that has been said, but I want (I need) a correct camera viewer... currently I have a hard time finding the border of my real cam screen..... so please...

- we can already create groups, but no option to select group members.

- there should be groups as well as layers because you can set several groups to share one layer for much quicker editing/hiding/unhiding/ renderable/ selectable

- more shortcuts often used (without Ctrl + something) for example (like in XSI) pressing F will frame the current selection in the viewport. Why not use this for the object list as well? Press F while mouse is over the object list, it will frame the selected objects. This is useful when you have a scene with many objects so you don't have to constantly scroll to find an object.

- ability to import entire material libraries, extremely important to workflow. Imagine having to import one by one 136 materials.

- ability to freeze objects/groups/layers so you don't accidently move them.

- UNDO

- ability to organize material list by libraries

- I still don't see how we are supposed to know sunlight direction in the viewport?

- Grid on/off

- ability to save notes with materials and have them show up in the material browser

- Material browser needs better IF design. The browser list needs to be wider for example.

- Camera resolution - ability to maintain aspect ratio.

That's the default behaviour already. Right click on the mat preview window and adjust the setting.

I agrre with Fernando Tella on opening a material editor via the software plugin. With fully functioning plugins there is no need to waste system resources and spoil workfow with Maxwell Studio.

It is already possible, the material assignment can be done via plugins only, no need to go through Studio for that. It has also been stated that you will be able to change basic params like textures also in the plugin. The 3D Max plugin already has an added material type which loads mxm files.

I agree. The best way is imho to have a camera viewport slightly larger than actual viewing angle, with frame borders clearly overlaid. Safe frame and alternate ratio options can't hurt too.

I think its easier to open the material editor, create and apply materials inside your 3d app than creating in studio, saving to file, import from file and apply.

First I really wonder why I need maxwell studio?? I really really would just like to assign materials, edit them and hit render from my native 3d app (like 3d viz) - I don't see the point in having to learn a new interface just for a render? I was astounded by the beta - despite its faults and slow speed, its inutuitive workflow and great render quality blew me out. I really got nervous about what I'd spent my money on when I got the RC though. I guess Next Limit has spent a bit too much time on the studio interface, which I really can't see why I should wish for at all...
