Bump :)

Next Limit should make the first 3rd party renderer for XSI !!!
Come on Next Limit beat Final Render and Vray to party :)
If one of these guys gets it out first there going to make a
lot of sales and no body will bother buying another 3d party renderer.

Except for me, I'll probably buy them all :)

anyway be the first !!!

With the SDK available maybe we should get together and hire somebody who is familiar with XSI's SDK. Helge Mathee comes to mind, if he's not too busy. I think he already made a free connection for XSI to Bodypaint? Or was it After Effects.....

I guess I would like to know why XSI was removed first, and if NL plans on putting it back once V1 is released. If NL has decided to actually not support XSI, then I guess your idea would be the only option. I hate to go there before we have any word from NL, but maybe it would be better to head down that road now instead of waiting.

Mihai, send me a PM if you have any ideas on the cost. I'm curious.

My work would buy more maxwell licences if there was an xsi plugin. In the meantime, weve been using maxwell studio for the odd render. If we had xsi plugin, Maxwell would be our primary render engine. Keepin fingers crossed.

Stephen, I'll try and find out more about the status, but if it's too far off, personally I think if we are 10 people, each put 100 in, then a programmer familiar with XSI would see it as a regular job. The SDK for Maxwell is already there, it would be a matter mostly of converting the geometry, which shouldn't be too difficult.

If this if the route we must take, then count me in.

Still hoping NL comes through :)

Are yes Helge Mather, last year Victor ask if I new of any programmers
that could do the XSI one and I suggested him :)
Anyway on and interesting note have a look at this renderer Sunflower.
Its open source and Michael Gangolf wrote an XSI exporter.
I'd think if he can do it for Sunflower maybe he can do the XSI one.
If not this sunflower render looks interesting, all written in java.
I must have a play with it.

Also check the link for render engines, damn theres a lot of open source
ones, commercial and proprietary renderers.

If theres no plugin by now, there not doing it for some other reason, consider all the platforms already suported. Any how... having a fully integrated plugin made yourself will shurely cost much more...

Hope we get an XSI plugin some day....
