there is an education version available: it is 300 euros but you only pay 100 euros per year for three years (surprise!)

yeah i just purchased the educational version. its' a great deal. the only downside is that they limit the usable processing power to 2. which is sad because my school's quad 3's are not being fully tested.

this is straight frmo the educational program pdf they sent me:

"Here is some up to date information regarding our educational license:

The Educational Program consists of signing up for 3 years for on $95 a year. During this period, you will recieve all updates to newer and better versions of Maxwell Render. The license you will get has no time limit. The only difference to the educational version, is that the license is valide for just 2 CPUs, as opposed to the standard 4.

After those 3 years, yo uwill get a full license with no technical limitations. It is available for Windows, Mac OSX or Linux. If you graduate before those three years are completed, you can buy a commercial license for a greatly reduced price."
