Any features you'd like to see implemented into Maxwell?

Dunno if that could be possible:

constant sampling update on image. (like in progressive path tracing in vray)

not sure to get what you mean, sampling is already constant, maybe slow, but constant.

Its not constant - its about once every 10 mins, which can be annoying when adjusting the ISO etc when rendering and then having to wait to see the result

i dont think that "constant" (secondwise or so) updating of the shot rays would be a good idea.. it maybe much slower to shoot a few rays every second than shooting a whole lot of for ten minutes as one "package" and then updating.. furthermore adjusting ISO-settings and so on would stop the renderprogress for the time of changing..

also you probably wouldn´t see a real progress in sampling anymore when sampling level goes higher than maybe 3-4..

I agree that collecting a bunch of calculated rays and push them out to the renderwindow at the intervalls it's being done now is more than good enough. If it would be any faster updates it would slowdown the whole process more which isn't what anyone wants.

Let's keep it the way it is instead. Infact i think you could almost cut down in the updates of the renderwindow when it passed by a certain sample level as most of the scene updates are done... updates once or twice a hour after it reached that certain sampling level could speed up the rendering :) or.. i could be totally wrong about this hehe

um, it may be my poor understanding of english, but i thought that an update every 10 minutes can be seen as constant (also given the fact that once a high sampling level is reached, say 11/12/13, the differences between sl 13,50 and 13,55 are not that relevant).

true, but the preview is there for this very reason, to check how the image would look after adjusting those settings that is.

if you want you can remove the -d option to speed it up a bit...

Thank you guys, for your interest :D , yeah i think u're right, maybe a more frequent image update mayincrease time rendering, and could be annoying about parameters changing. A note for Ric_535: I don't understand (in ur first post) if u were refering to MR or to Vray's PPT when u say that updates are performed every 10 min. If u were talkin about Vray, I made some tests, and i noticed about two updates per second.
Thanks!

Isn't that funny,

PPT in VRay was seen as a response to the competition of Maxwell since it adds the ability to adjust exactly how biased the rendering sampling is, and now maxwell users are requesting something that PPT has - quicker viewport updates.

Yes j_man, this is very unacceptable and scandalous.

excactly - an "update display now" button would be the best solution for most people i suppose.
