Any features you'd like to see implemented into Maxwell?

Hallo,

I would like to use a lower gamma value than 1. Also, I could be good to set numerical values in the MXI viewer parameter. Some times the slider is hard to control.

You can already enter directly numerical values, no need to use the sliders.

Gamma below 1?......Gamma is already so sensitive, what would you use this for exactly?

If I use some MXI emitter spheres than I would wish to get more contrast during the rendering, but my slider is at 1 now.
From my biased renderer I know, that a value less than 1 is not a problem.

The manual numercial values work good, thanks for the hint.

I wouldn't use gamma to control contrast. If it's merely contrast, better to do this in post, or use a combination of the ISO and shutterspeed settings. I have found for example if I lower the ISO while increasing shutterspeed I get more contrast.

Well, independant if it's useful or not, their is not a single good reason to clip Gamma at 1. This is a bit like the ND clipping at 1. Someone is caring too much about keeping the user away from the rift...

Gamma must be > 0, and usually is around 2. Everything else should be in the responsibilty of the user.

I don't like to change the contrast in post work, this destroy the decrease 255 greylevels. There is no theoretical reason again a gamma from 0 ... 10.

I don't know why, but it seems to be that some HDRIs from the www need a rendering with gamma 1. As I used this, a gamma of 1 looks good.

When we'll have more than 8bit/channel output from maxwell, you can do postwork for contrast. Right now working with just 8bit is not enough, it makes banding.

Working with hdri's you should instead change their intensity if they are too bright or too dark.
