Any features you'd like to see implemented into Maxwell?

Hello dear developers,

i really would like to see additional PBR shaders support so that texture maps from 3d-Coat, Substance Painter etc., can be used with Maxwell Render.
It would allow us then to create easily realistic materials, imo.

I would like to input those created metalness and roughness maps, along with the albedo map and normal map into Maxwell's Editor.

If there is a proper workflow 3D-Coat metalness maps to Maxwell, then my post is obsolete, of course.

I am not sure about 3D Coat, but the basic setup for PBR materials from Substance Designer is below:

Image

Some tips to customize from these settings:
  1. The Nd in the Base layer is just a general stand-in -- if you know the Nd and K values of the metal parts of the material you should plug those values in here.
  2. The Nd in the Specular layer is a general stand-in -- you would need to adjust it depending on the general Nd of the material (eg. - 1.33 for wet objects, 1.491 for plastic, etc.).
I plug the normal map into the global bump for the sake of simplicity.

These settings work across a full range of materials output from Substance Designer -- so I would assume it would be very similar for you and 3D Coat.

Fantastic! :D Thank you so much for your help, very much appreciated!

I will try out your set-up, once i come home from work, but i strongly assume
i should get the same good results as you show in your material preview, which
looks excellent!
