Any features you'd like to see implemented into Maxwell?

As the title says, i'd like to see support for implicit surfaces in Maxwell as it could generate complex surfaces with a pretty small memory footprint. When this technology is used right then it can generate some very very interesting and complex looking surfaces.

Surfaces could be generated by either adjusting a set of numerical values, parameter dials, greyscale maps, noisemaps of various sorts, formulas and maybe even fractals.. :)
It would probably work best within the standalone interface, too much work to get it usable in the plugins for each program.

Heh, sorry i should have posted some pics or links to more info but it was too late last night. Here are some pics, even tho they're from tests with Vray *shrugs* they do display basically how the technology works.

You define the basic rough lowpoly mesh that will act as a cage that confines the mesh generated by whatever values you feed the engine with such as the result is seen in the 2nd image, that is a implicit surface. Matematically defined on a pre set number of specified parameters/values or perlin noisemaps or any other similar 'thing' that feeds the engine with the data it needs to calculate the mesh within the lowpoly cage.

Same thing can also be used by making a simple polygonal plane to define a oceanic surface with waves and overhangs from big waves since implicit surfaces allows you to go beyond the normal bump/displace maps and twist and turn the model into basically anything :P

A oceanic surface example here:

It's extremly powerful when used right ;)

It's really cool and once's integrated it let's u create some crazy surfaces with extreme detail to them and as they're mathematically brought to life they use little ram, only during polygon caching is when you need a extra boost of ram :) but that's something i could live with to have this kickass feature!

If u wanna find out more do some Googling on implicit surface modeling or rendering. There should be quite a few researchpapers on this u can read.
