Any features you'd like to see implemented into Maxwell?

a feature that could all save us lots of gray hair: a toggle to keep the region render at the same resolution/size as the whole image, meaning that the region is not enlarged to the whole image size when rendering.
most of the renders have only a small area where the noise doesn't clear up fast enough, most renders are fine at level 10-12 except for that small dark corner over there, or behind that glass bowl. it would be nice to stop the render at level 12, then do a local render to level 18 in no time, which can be pasted over the original in photoshop, so same size as the original, to keep the region in place, but the rest of the image filled up with black.

Thanks for doing this first!!!!

really great idea! this would be very helpfull ... also to check some materials outcome at a higher sl, while making a test render.

I usually do that kind of region render from 3dsmax plugin, but I agree that it would be very useful if mxcl could do that kind of optimizations automatically; I think though that it is quite hard to code something that detects noise properly but, hey! They won an Oscar. Maybe NL can deal with this challenge. :D

It's a good suggestion, i want this too!

The 'other' engine had that aeronoise feature, but in the latest release it been removed because it caused more trouble than it did good. It consumed lots of ram and as i understand it it was problematic in many ways. It will be replaced by a standard render region tool for the next update.

so i would say thats one more reason for NL to do it better and stay ahead of the rest :D

i my eyes one can only laugh about fry.. to concept an engine thats is only running on Windows till now ...

So, is this a known issue?

Thanks a lot for your response, I will update and […]

did you tried luxCore?
