I would like to be able to resume a render with alpha so that the sky background stays black. Here's my problem, I've got 2 renderings I have done. One rendering is for the foreground of the scene and the other is the background. The forground contains some architecture and trees and plants. The background includes large trees and sun and sky. I rendered the background out normally and rendered the foreground with alpha (which made the sky a solid black). I composited in PS and the render looks good. Now I have been resume rendering the foreground the past few nights and when resuming, I get a message that alpha channel will be turned off automatically for resumed renders. This is ok except for now the sky starts showing up and getting brighter and brighter with each sl update. My point is, my compositing in PS with the new foreground render doesn't clip correctly anymore because of the sky being a light color. See examples below:

Image rendered with black sky:

Image rendered with blue sky:

Therefore, I would like to be able to specify a black sky for resume renders. How about when you check the alpha box on a resume render, the sky renders black?

Thanks,

Ok, I have figured a way to do this. If you have a file you want to render with an alpha, and know you will go back later to resume it, set it up with a specially created all black mxi in the background slot. That's what I did and it works.

So, is this a known issue?

Thanks a lot for your response, I will update and […]

did you tried luxCore?
