I think from a workflow perspective it would be very important to have some kind of "active object file linkage."
This enables smart productivity and good workflow because you can do this:
1 - Have the native modeling program open.
2 -Have Maxwell Render Standalone open.
3 - Work on a one or a series of objects in the native modeling program.
4- Have the objects loaded as "active object file references" in Maxwell Render Standalone so you can basically set up materials, lighting, camera and scene, etc.
5- Make changes or edits to those object references in the native program and save the object to activate the Maxwell Render Standalone "active object file reference" linkage.
The objects automatically update to reflect any changes or edits in Maxwell Render Standalone.
