The Z channel is disabled in RC5 but will hopefully be back in the next one. I also hope that in the future other channels will be availble like G buffer or matID's, I don't expect texture, reflection, transparency etc but who knows.
In the meantime you could use scanline to create channels. obviously without the real-world camera they're not going to be perfect.
What about direct and indirect channels?
