Please post here anything else (not relating to Maxwell technical matters)

I've been tasked with finding our office a good color printer so we can make hard copies all these marvelous Maxwell architectural renders we're producing (usually for submission to development authorities and commissions and such). I'd love to hear some opinions of folk's who have purchased printers for this purpose as well. I've done a good bit of research, and it's left me more confused than informed. One issue that's unclear to me: Inkjet vs Laser? I've read that inkjet does better color, which is what this is for, but the text and graphics are important and can't be muddy either.

We need:
- 12"x18" format capability - this is mission-critical
- at least 1200 dpi color
- networked/networkable
- robust for an office environment
- really, really good color output (yes, we'll use good paper)
- preferably single-ink color cartridge, I hate throwing out the whole thing just because we use a lot of magenta, not gonna die on that hill, though

Not as critical:
- other functions (fax, scan, etc)
- form factor and body color
- prints that last a millennium - these are not archival
- super-fast ppm; we have an HP CP2025 for 8.5x11 proposals and such, works fine and it's pretty slow, so we're used to it
- cost, provided it isn't in the thousands
- cartridge cost - again, we're not using it that often, other things are more important to us

Thanks in advance for your help! The only other thread on this I found here was 7 years old, probably time for a new one.

Epson makes really good pro desktop printers. Something like this or this.

It's really handy to have a printer that can print on roll paper.

That tier of Epson's printers is quite good.

@mspencer: thanks for those links, I hadn't come across those models and they look to fit the bill nicely. Hadn't thought about roll paper - yes, that would be nice!
