I bought this Vignetter at an antique store for $6.00. Mostly because I'm a sucker for perfectly cut pieces of glass... I didn't think it would be hard to find a reference for what is on Google but I'm not finding anything. It's made by Wollensak Optical Co. and says "Vignetter for xxx" (the label is messed up). Can anyone tell me what this is for?

Here's some pix (sorry for quality, taken with my phone):

I can only imagine it either adds vignetting effects to a lense, or removes it . . . . . fascinating object & what a price!

You should do a controlled photo to Maxwell comparison of this object!
Not me man, you're the glass and dispersion expert! I'm still trying to figure out how you do that...! Just once I'd like to get the colors in a piece of plastic like you did with that "Dispersion" render you have posted on your website.

@Glebe: Yeah, the price was sweeeet!

I did find a bit more info. Wollensak's assets were bought by Surplus Shed (http://www.surplusshed.com/). They still have some lenses and prisms and stuff. I'm gonna' grab a few of the prisms and other "pieces of glass".
