Thank you Brian.. what config..? do you mean what raid..? I guess I am interested in Raid-1.. mirroring...

I am running winxp64.. but on a MacPro intel 5400 dual 8 cores.. so I have no idea..

do you have a raid controller card.. or is it a raid soft solution..

I looked at raid cards from apple store.. and they really have bad critics...

thank you

Hervé ... You don't have to get all that complicated.

Another external drive that's running backup software will suffice.

Best external drive on the market.

It comes with backupsoftware.

This is a very simple drive --- plug it in (eSATA), windows will recognize it, ... your done.

If you don't have an external eSATA port ... you can buy a pci card...

ahhh cool.. ok.. so these are he best ones of the entire world..? good to know... but now what about these other disks with non contact... what's the name again...?

anyway... good advice... so now this backup thing.... is it automatic.?. like everyday it automatically knows all new files I made, all "re"saved files, etc.. and makes a copy of it..?

Thanks for the input... input.. what a geeky word... hehe..

I say they're the best. Before I bought it, I checked hundreds ++ reviews for all drives -- and this particular drive had essentially no technical complaints.

What's good about it is that it throttles down or goes into idle mode when not being accessed, ...it is 100% silent and cool to the touch. You don't want a backup drive (that never gets turned off) to be constantly spinning/stressing/getting hot/annoying etc.. KWIM.

The non-contact thing you refer to is SSD (solid state disk), ... that's not for storage purposes -- too expensive per gigabyte, ...that's something for using as a primary C: partition.

I looked at those too ... bad drive, ...sorry H. All looks bro... all looks.

Research Lacie vs. complaints ... the number is disproportionately high.

I told you which one to get... Can you not find it in France ?
