I have Maya, but it's 7, and 'complete,' which means no cloth.

Can you recommend a good way of getting CG cloth for Maxwell? It doesn't need to move well, just drape well.

Syflex looks interesting, but out of the budget (which is for my personal stuff, therefore very low)

Does Poser have cloth? (hey, whatever works)

I was talking about 6 months ago with a company that wanted to hire me for some stuff but they were heavily into it for everything. There was some volumetric particle/fluid plugin that they were using that looked interesting. It's well known, but I'm blanking on the name.

FumeFX? the particl plugin (for max) and there is Afterburn for max too...

FOR CLOTH:
You may wanna download the 3dcoat (www.3dcoat.com) demo fo version 3.1 and try it out..he programed a cloth drape simulator into the sculptor..so you make whatever object you want (default is a plan) and you position it over another object and hit simulate and it drapes the cloth over(drops it using a gravity force) ..its really fast..and pretty nice.. and then you can use 3dcoat sculpting tools to further refine/sculpt the cloth to look like you want it too. VERY AMAZING PROGRAM! for very little $$ compared to zbrush n mudbox.. I own mudbox and 3dcoat and there is ALOT 3dcoat can do that neither mudbox nor zbrush can.. and its a fraction of the price.. (I wanna say in the $300 range) (ive owned it since version2 .. and MAX from the fourm here turned me on to it.. its awsoem.. even has great UV layout tools (updated in v3.1.12) and the dude literally puts out updates/fixes almost weekely.. so if you report a problem there a super high chance that itll be fixed within a week.. maybe two at most.. some weeks he puts out 2 upgrades a week!

Those are the particle plugins I was thinking of.

I had heard of 3D Coat but was unaware of the cloth thing. I'll check it out; thanks!

I have ZBrush. I've been impressed with the fact that all the upgrades so far have been at no additional cost. I hear ZBrush 4.0 will likely be the same.
