Can you recommend a good LCD monitor under $750?

I was thinking maybe the Samsung 245T or a similar level Dell or HP.

I don't want a super cheap one with poor viewing angles and color, nor do I want to drift up into 4 figures.

wow.. This one's for sale in the german Dell store for 653,31 EURO = 962,19$ (exchange course 1Euro=1,4728)

the cheapest I find him is for 518,50Euro, which is still 763,64$... see how nice you have it and how much moeny you save by living far away.. :)

What ever you pick, i'd definitely go for >= HD (1920x1080) nowadays. I still have a 1680x1050 screen, great image but i frequently find myself wishing i could watch 1080p material without down scaling.

since I got my laptop (march 2006) I feel the same. Everytime I have to use another computer I miss the high resolution (1920x1200). So I'd definitely buy one with at least that resolution.. be it hd movies or even more just to have the space for the menus in CAD programs without having almost no space for constructing - I love the large screen resolution.

Looks strange with a web browser but you'll get used to browse in window mode ... :D

I've used a Syncmaster 245bw for over a year now and I'm satisfied with it...would have preferred an Apple monitor to go with my Macpro, but at twice the cost, couldn't justify it. Read too many concerns with Dell quality (in addition to my own experience), but maybe that has changed.

Brought two Ultrasharp 22" (1680x1050) last month and they are really nice. They were a good catch for 240€ each.

I see some differences in colors compared to my two old Spectraview 19".

Midnight update - it has shipped and has an estimated arrival of the 17th - so they made up a little lost time.

:D

I think this is a new model just released, so there may be a lot of initial demand to be met. (or a lack of supply)

Yes! If you came from a consumer grade CRT, an LCD exposes formerly unseen banding and compression artifacts. This is especially painful if you use a biased renderer and realize you have to dial up the settings to get the quality you're used to.
