I currently use the Photomatix plugin for Photoshop and it works well, but crashes with any hdr larger than 5k or 6k pixels (even though I have plenty of RAM and 64 bit computer). Any software out there that you use and can recommend?

With Maxwell's 32 bit hdr output, you can technically do anything you could do with a photo. I have used Photomatix on some of my renders and the difference is pretty noticeable. I'll post a side by side in a while.

thanks for that sample.

but i am rather searching a solution for much bigger brightness changes. where i can really compress the color range so much so i can clearly see the exterior scene and a fully lit interior... is that possible withoug losing interior or exterior details to burn or blackness ?
